Special topics will include an update on the project to redesign the intersection of Cradit Farm Drive with Pleasant Grove Road and a community discussion about safety for pedestrians and cyclists on the steep section of Pleasant Grove Road between that intersection and the Downstream Bridge. Details to follow.
Stay home and hear an update on North Campus construction, including dealing with truck traffic. Also on the agenda will be where things stand on plans for re-opening the campus. Neighbors will be able to raise other topics.
There will only be one crew working so it may take a few days to get to you. All brush and yard waste must be at the roadside by 7 a.m. on the 20th. Leaves and non-brush yard waste must be in biodegradable paper bags. There will be no call-backs.

The Town will now start Spring Brush and Leaf Pickup on Monday, April 20.
FHIA’s Spring Cleanup effort is scheduled for Saturday April 18, 9-11am. We usually meet at the park and then spread out to pick up trash along neighborhood roads, etc. More details later on adjustments in light of COVID-19.

Practical Conversation about Solar and Heat Pumps POSTPONED

Installing solar panels or a heat pump system can reduce your fossil fuel use, improve energy efficiency, and make your home compliant with increasingly tight building codes. Both technologies are mature, but a mix of regulations, national and state tax incentives, historic homes considerations, and driven salespeople can make the selection and implementation process daunting.
Please join us for an informal discussion with Forest Home neighbors who have recently installed these systems. If you have already taken the plunge, please come and share your experience.

Dani Novak from Halcyon Hill has been working with the Red Cross and Pastor Rebecca Dolch at the Chapel to arrange this session. Hopefully we will never need to use the advice the Red Cross presenters will offer, but it will be useful to get tips from folks with experience of helping people after disaster strikes, just in case.

Conservation Challenges for Forest Home’s Forests.
We will be joined by Todd Bittner, Director of Natural Areas at Cornell Botanic Gardens, to learn about local forest conservation threats and actions. The discussion will include information on local efforts to manage the urban deer population, as well as other emerging forest issues, such as the emerald ash borer and Japanese knotweed. Todd will include information on what home-owners can do on their own property.

The Town of Ithaca Public Works has announced that Forest Home Drive between Judd Falls Road and McIntyre Place will be closed beginning September 30 for approximately two weeks to replace the guide-rail and for associated road/shoulder work. The road will be closed completely.
Emergency services have been notified that alternate routes must be taken.
The Town hopes to keep the footpath beside/below Forest Home Drive open while they work on the road.
