Lower Bridge Centennial Celebration, May 1, 2004
Dani Novak described the celebration:
“It was a happy happy sunny day. The Isabel Peard memorial service had been held in the morning and there was much food left. Some of us felt Isabel’s spirit celebrating with us. Many people came to enjoy this true community event.
The Caribbean Jazz Band from Ithaca College played music on the bridge, competing with the rushing waters of Fall Creek.
A local artist brought an easel and lots of paint which filled an empty canvas with beauty and color.
Sheila Danko prepared a huge cake with the help of many kids, that was so much appreciated by the community.
Bruce Brittain brought picture puzzles of buildings of Forest Home and other information that helped contestants win the history quiz that Elizabeth Sanders and Bruce prepared.
Daniel Mitchell brought Root Beer from the Ithaca Beer Company.
Purity Ice Cream donated three gallons of ice cream.
The Town of Ithaca helped to divert the traffic.”
